Our boutique winery has a passion for classic and refined European wines made from locally grown grapes. These wines are meticulously produced and bottled, corked and labeled by hand.
Five grape Bordeaux style blend (Cab Franc, Petite Verdot, Carmenere, Cab Sauvignon, Merlot). Cherry, cocoa, and cola.
Blend of Pinot Gris and Riesling, neutral barrel aged. Medium bodied, bright acidity, almond, citrus. Slight briny finish.
Skin-fermented orange wine. Savory with citrus. Experimental varieties grown near Benton Harbor.

Lake Michigan Shore AVA
How can we can grow such great wine grapes in this part of Michigan? One big, beautiful reason is Lake Michigan. Her moderating influence on extreme temperatures is profound. For just a few miles inland, the prevailing west winds coming across the lake make us a little warmer in winter and a little cooler in the summer. Those few degrees may not seem like much, but they can mean everything when it comes to wine grape cultivation. Pair that with the soil composition and terrain the glaciers gave us thousands of years ago... it's a sweet spot for producing amazing vitis vinifera. Hybrids too.
Hickory Creek Winery is located in the heart of the Lake Michigan Shore American Viticulture Area (AVA). Popular grapes grown in this cold climate include cabernet franc, chancellor, chardonnay, gewürztraminer, merlot, pinot gris, pinot noir, riesling, seyval blanc, traminette and viognier.
